But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s own people - 1 Peter 2.9
Sometimes, we don't take seriously enough everything that the Bible says about human beings. We take the bad stuff about us at face value. We are willing to be sinners and broken and even food for worms (see Job!). But for some reason, we don't take it as seriously when the Bible tells us that we are so tremendously important to God - beloved children, the object of God's desire, the crown of God's creation, the joy of God's heart.
So remind yourself. Get a glass crayon and draw on your bathroom mirror - a crown and a stole (I know pastor doesn't exactly equal priest, but it was the best I could do...). When you brush your teeth, there will be a priestly king looking back at you. Remember who you are, who God made you and redeemed you to be!
Post a selfie of your royal priestly self in the comments!
And listen to this great song on the topic by Andrew Peterson:
